SERVPRO of Kirksville hosted its 13th annual Continuing Educational course on March 12th, 2020. The course that was offered to our local insurance agents was Restoration Industry: Property Fire Damage Restoration.
Our attendees learned many aspects of a fire damage claims process and how to deal with the aftermath of fire damage. They gained awareness of how quickly a fire in your home or business can start and how quickly that fire can spread. They learned how different materials burn, in order to determine what cleaning process will be most beneficial in returning the fire damage back to preloss condition.
They learned about the differences between a dry or wet soot, fuel oil soot and protein soot. The behavior of smoke, including heat transference, temperatures of smoke and surfaces, airflow patterns, convection and heat lines and the differences in them. This helps us to determine what type of smoke damage they have and the different types of odors that they cause to the home and personal property.
The class also highlighted a homeowners Perception vs reality and how important communication is during the remediation process. By doing so, it helps give the homeowner or business owner confidence in the cleaning process and gives them a sense of order when things seem so chaotic and frightening. The most important job is helping customers put their lives back together. SERVPRO of Kirksville wants to help you, regain that control.
Regaining control after a fire, starts with beginning mitigation as soon as possible. The sooner mitigation begins the sooner you or your customer can start gaining control again. Remembering that speed is key. The longer that an item is exposed, the greater the chance of additional damage. The more that you restore the less you have to replace. Immediate response lessens damages and will help preserve all the important irreplaceable valuables. SERVPRO of Kirksville is here to be your mitigation partner and to serve as one of your first responders.
We want to thank our instructor and all the agents that were able to attend.
